Tom Manger quoted in North West Business Insider
In July 2007, North West Business Insider attempted to explore the disparity between employees’ lack of enthusiasm for networking events and the positive opportunities they present for both individuals and businesses.
Even the most outgoing members of a team tend not to relish the prospect of a networking event, while more reserved individuals often report a feeling of dread in advance of such an engagement. Tom Manger, Director at Warren Partners, explained that networking is only valuable if employers and staff agree a clear desired outcome in advance.
Tom said: "Networking events can present an uncomfortable sales environment whether you are selling your business services or yourself as a potential employee. For individuals who have never invested time and effort in networking and are then suddenly forced into it as a means to find a new job, it can be done badly."
