Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks)
Non-Executive Director (NED)
NIE Networks owns the Northern Ireland electricity transmission and distribution network and operates the electricity distribution network which transports electricity to over 860,000 customers. It is an independent company within the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) Group with its own Board and management teams and separate regulation via the Utility Regulator.
A new Non-Executive Director (NED) was sought to bring fresh perspectives and proven commercial judgment to the Board. As this was a key appointment at a critical time in the regulatory cycle, they wanted to engage a search firm with a strong and relevant contact base, robust and transparent processes and a credible, professional, approach to act as a positive ambassador of the business in the market. Warren Partners was selected as the recruitment partner and Iain Brockbank (Director and Head of Industrial Practice) led the search team.
“From my first conversation with Iain Brockbank I thought that he was an extremely impressive individual. He completely understood what we needed to do, was very knowledgeable and gave excellent advice and guidance. He was also extremely responsive, even out of hours he would come back to me immediately. I felt that he really steered me in the right direction – he got the regulatory piece and I has hugely reassured by that. He was professional and has a pleasant disposition. I felt that he really knew the characteristics that we needed in a NED – competence, confidence – and importantly humility”.
